When the vent is blocked, the dryer can’t shed heat — so it runs hotter and longer than it was built to. The heating element or the thermal fuse is usually what gives out first, and neither is a cheap part. Cleaning the dryer and the vent line is maintenance. If the duct behind your dryer is flexible foil, that’s the first thing to fix.

Flexible foil and plastic ducts sag, trap lint in every ridge and aren’t rated for the heat a dryer puts out. Smooth metal is what belongs there. It’s a small part and a quick swap, and it makes a real difference to how the whole system runs. 📞 (484) 546-8489

Go look at the outside of your house. That little hood near the laundry room — if there’s a screen or a grid sitting behind the flaps, that’s a problem, and it’s a common one. Screens belong on windows, not on dryer vents. 📸 Send a photo if you’re unsure.
